I began practicing yoga in San Francisco in 2000 and  teaching in
2005.  As my practice grew, the desire to deeply understand the
meaning and application of the asanas and yoga philosophy inspired
me to complete the 500-hour Advanced Studies Teacher in Training
program at the Iyengar Institute of San Francisco.  Manouso Manos is
currently my mentor teacher at the Abode of Iyengar Yoga, Sf.  An
active home practice with continuing study of the Bhagavadgita and
Yoga Sutras of Patanjali  keeps the desire to pursue this path fresh,
revealing again and again that the asanas are a gate way to bring
clairity and culture thought forms by way of the body, moving from the
skin and penetrating  layers toward the soul.

Many people are curious and drawn to the practice of yoga, which, at a
glance, can be seen as mere physical exercise, perhaps for only
certain body and personality types.  This is wholly false.  Yoga is for
anyone, any body, during any phase of life and illness.  By opening
ourselves to yoga we are freeing ourselves of emotional and physical
distresses.  This is not contingent on physical ability but on the desire
and willingness to move toward a higher purpose where in doing so,
true beauty and contentment are to be found.  Yoga is for all people. I
welcome and encourage all walks of life and ability to my classes.

Iyengar yoga
continues to be one of the vehicles to profound
transformation.  I have experienced great resilience through health
challenges and tools for maintaining the return of that health. My hope
for students is to find for themselves how  Iyengar yoga can enrich
their lives and to live their practice well.
